Hobo stew originated in the early 1900s during the depression and is said to be a staple in Hobo camps. The Southern meaning is whatever anyone could scrounge up to make a stew. Times were hard and this was one way they could make what they had go a little farther and make a little more.
Here is my version.
1 pound ground beef browned
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 can corn
1 can of green beans
1 can cannelloni beans
